Is it permissible for a menopausal woman who has blood discharges to fast?

Answer

If she has reached the age of menopause and her periods have stopped, but later sees a blood discharge that lasts for a complete day and night i.e. 24 hours, then the discharge is menstrual blood. But, if the blood discharge lasts less than a complete day and night, then it is not menstrual blood but istihada [bleeding outside the monthly period]. Istihada does not preclude a woman from praying and fasting, but she must make ablution before every prayer.
And God the Almighty knows best.
