Is child support nullified when a mother loses her right to custody?

Is child support nullified when a mother loses her right to custody?

Answer

It is obligatory for a father to provide for his young child who is poor for God the Almighty says: “It is for the father to provide them and clothe them honorably” [2: 233]. A father is obliged to support his child even if the mother loses her right to custody.
A mother`s violation of her custody rights does not deprive the child from receiving support from his or her father. Imam Ibn Nujaim said in Al-Bahar Al-Ra`eq (11/337): “Financial support, housing, and clothing of a young child who is poor are incumbent on the father based on the words of God the Almighty Who says: “It is for the father to provide them and clothe them honorably” [2:233]. This proves that it is the father’s responsibility to provide for his children.”
And God the Almighty knows the best.
