Grand Mufti of Egypt Extends Condolences on Pope Francis’s Passing at Vatican Embassy in Cairo

His Eminence Professor Dr. Nazir Muhammad ‘Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, visited the Vatican Embassy in Cairo to offer his condolences on the passing of Pope Francis. This noble gesture reflected the deep and enduring bonds between religious leaders and underscored the appreciation of Egyptian religious institutions for the late Pope’s efforts in promoting peace, dialogue, and coexistence. Upon his arrival, His Eminence was warmly received by His Excellency Ambassador Nicolas Henry, the Vatican’s ambassador to Cairo.
During the visit, the Grand Mufti emphasized that divine religions were revealed to uphold the values of love, coexistence, and human fraternity. He praised Pope Francis’s pivotal role in advancing dialogue and understanding among followers of different faiths, stressing the need to continue building on these foundations to secure a future of greater peace and compassion for humanity.
