GFI issues 2019 report, monitored and analyzed 4 million fatwas covering 40 countries worldwide

In a recent news statement, the Global Fatwa Index (GFI), affiliated to Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta and the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, revealed that it monitored and analyzed 4 million fatwas covering 40 countries worldwide throughout the year 2019.

According to its 2019 annual report, GFI announced that it analyzed Ifta discourse for more than 13 terrorist organizations. “Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan were on the top of countries that issued official and non-official fatwas worldwide throughout 2019,” the report mentioned.

In its detailed report, GFI announced that it conducted studies and analyzed more than 55 pressing issues relating to the radical violent rhetoric adopted by terrorist groups and Muslim Brotherhood. It also monitored and analyzed Muslim minorities issues in Europe, social issues relating to (women, child, child marriage and medical fatwas). This is in addition to monitoring, analyzing and reviewing technology and social media issues that affected fatwa issuance such as the usage of Telegram by terrorist groups, Ask FM, electronic games, fatwas of the 5th generation and fatwas presented by Euro Fatwas APP.
