Egypt's Mufti Addresses Islamic Values and Ethics at Baku's World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue

In his speech delivered at the 6th edition of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt's Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, stressed that we are confronting shared challenges that demand the establishment of direct dialogues to address global issues. "In this interconnected world, akin to a small village, seemingly local incidents can reverberate across its farthest reaches," the Grand Mufti stated.

Dr. Allam underscored that while individuals may hold diverse beliefs and follow different religions, they find common ground in ethical principles. He emphasized that adherence to a shared social contract and ethical standards, promoting virtues like honesty, integrity, cooperation, and mutual respect, facilitates peaceful coexistence.

The Grand Mufti is currently participating along with a prominent gathering of scholars and thought leaders in the 6th edition of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, operating under the theme “Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Cooperation and Interconnectivity,” that is scheduled to convene from May 1st to May 3rd, 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
