Egypt’s Grand Mufti, H.E. Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, delivered the closing statement of the 11th International Conference of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, reaffirming that protecting the family remains a top priority for religious and institutional work. He announced ten strategic outcomes, including the “Haseen” International Fatwa Reference, the “Sakan” interactive family platform, the Cairo Declaration for Family Protection in the Digital Age, an atlas on family challenges, a digital family-fatwa certification program, and an Islamic charter for the safe use of AI within the family. He also announced the establishment of a Permanent Family Council at Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta, to convene quarterly and address emerging family issues and challenges.

The conference’s recommendations called for protecting Palestinian families and mobilizing international efforts to support relief, recovery, and reconstruction; establishing institutional early-warning and foresight mechanisms to monitor emerging social, technological, economic, and value-related challenges; and developing a comprehensive digital protection framework for children, adolescents, and young people. The conference further urged greater cooperation among fatwa institutions worldwide in addressing emerging family issues and expanding the scope of collective ijtihad. Dr. Ayyad stressed that the conference’s outcomes should translate into practical, measurable action rather than remain merely archival documents.
