Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta to launch 5th international conference on managing juristic differences Tuesday, with participant delegates from 85 countries

The General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide is to launch the fifth international conference titled “Managing Juristic Differences: A Civilizational Approach” on Tuesday. The conference, will be held from 15-16 October 2019, under the kind auspices of the President of Egypt, HE Abdul Fattah al-Sisi and will be attended by leading delegates from 85 countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine, Oman, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Uzbekistan, Comoros, Burundi, Tanzania, Senegal, Malaysia, Thailand, United States, France, Russia, Greece, Netherlands, Ukraine, Albania and other countries of the world.

The Grand Mufti of Egypt, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Shawki Allam, will give the conference’s opening statement; the Minister of Aqwaf, Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, is to give a speech on behalf of the Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbuly and Dr. Nadhir Ayad, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Assembly will give a speech on behalf of Dr. Ahmed al-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Azahr.

On his part, the Senior Advisor to Egypt’s Mufti, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Ibrahim Negm, said in a news statement on Monday that the selection of the title of this year’s conference comes from a real determination that is not limited to merely addressing intellectual and ethical issues related to juristic differences, but extends to an honest intention to utilize and manage juristic differences with insight and prudence. The purpose is to render these differences an efficient instrument for promoting a system that allows Islamic jurisprudence and fatwa to contribute towards the contemporary civilization on the levels of both the Islamic world and humanity in general.
