In Islam, fatwa is the link that connects legal rulings and the real-life context of the people. In light of the chaos that has seeped into the field of ifta due to the encroachment of unqualified individuals who exploit fatwas for certain purposes, Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta held an international conference titled “Fatwa: The Realities, Challenges, and Future Prospects” on 17-18 August 2015. The conference sought to identify contemporary fatwa-related problems, provide solutions to them, and explore the areas where ifta can operate in our present-day life within a framework of sound scholarly principles.
