A message to the Arab and Muslim ummah on the occasion of the birth of Prophet Muhammad
Question
What message would Your Eminence like to send to the Arab and Muslim ummah on the occasion of the birth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), particularly in light of the current circumstances?
Answer
The message we wish to convey to the Arab and Muslim ummah on this blessed occasion, and in view of the present circumstances, is that we must all study the biography of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), emulate his example, and follow his guidance.
In these challenging times—when Islam and Muslims are being maligned in every part of the world—we must unite, hold fast to the truth, and reject division, discord, and dissension among ourselves, in compliance with the words of Allah Almighty, "And hold fast, all together, to the Rope of Allah, and do not become divided." (Quran, 3:103) and "And do not dispute with one another, lest you lose courage and your strength depart" (Quran, 8:46).
It is incumbent upon the leaders of the Arab and Muslim ummah to find a way to unite the worldwide community of Muslims and strengthen its solidarity in order to defend the oppressed people of Palestine—Muslims and others alike—and to liberate them from the hands of those who have wrongfully and unjustly occupied their land; Allah Almighty says, "And cooperate with one another in righteousness and piety, and do not cooperate in sin and aggression" (Quran, 5:2). Al-Nuʿman ibn Bashir (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said, "The example of the believers in their mutual affection, mercy, and compassion is that of a single body: when one limb suffers, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever" (recorded by Muslim).
And Allah Almighty knows best.
