What is the ruling for burning Qur’anic pages which have disintegrated?

The basic principle is that it is prohibited to burn a mushaf from which one can recite the Qur’an out of it its sanctity. According to the majority of scholars, it is permissible to burn a mushaf which has become physically unfit to use for recitation in order to preserve [the sanctity of its contents].
