Is it permissible to pray in planes?

Standing up when one has the ability to do so is one of the pillars of prescribed prayers. It is permissible to perform prayers on a plane and its like and it is obligatory to stand up when one is able to do so. It is likewise permissible to pray while seated when one is not able to stand up if one fears that the time of the prayer will end and one cannot find any place suitable for performing prayers while standing. You must take into account that prayers are valid when performed in any pure place due to the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who said, “The whole earth has been made a mosque and pure for me.”
