What is the du’a` of Istikhara?

Question

What is the du’a` of Istikhara?

Answer

The du’a` [supplications] for istikhara [prayer for guidance and seeking a choice] is as follows:
‘O Allah! I seek Your guidance from Your knowledge and strength by Your might and I ask for Your great blessings for indeed You are able and I am not; You know and I do not and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah! If You know that this matter is good for me in my religion, life, and the Hereafter (or say, 'if it is better for my present and later needs) then decree it for me, facilitate it and bless me with it. And if You know that this matter is harmful to me in my religion, life and Hereafter (or say, 'if it is worse for my present and later needs), then keep it away from me and keep me away from it, and decree for me what is good wherever it be and make me satisfied with it.'
And God the Almighty knows best.
