Egypt’s Grand Mufti Meets Pakistan’s Newly Appointed Ambassador to Boost Religious and Scientific Cooperation

Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Egypt's Grand Mufti and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, received Pakistan’s newly appointed ambassador to Cairo, Aamer Shaukat, to explore avenues for enhanced scientific and religious cooperation.
The Grand Mufti welcomed the ambassador, emphasizing the deep-rooted historical ties between Egypt and Pakistan. He affirmed Dar al-Ifta’s readiness to offer training programs for Pakistani scholars and students—whether in Egypt, online, or through delegations to Pakistan—focusing on fatwa issuance, religious awareness, and countering extremist ideologies.
From his part, ambassador Shaukat expressed his appreciation for Dar al-Ifta’s leading role in promoting Islamic moderation and combating extremism. He stressed Pakistan’s interest in strengthening collaboration with Egypt’s religious institutions, especially in light of the challenges facing the Muslim world. He also highlighted the need for further scholarly support for Pakistani students studying at Al-Azhar.
