Dr. Shawqy Allam the grand mufti of Egypt congratulated Dr. Ahmad al-Tayyeb the grand imam of al-Azhar for receiving sheikh Zayed Cultural Personality of the Year Award 2012-2013.

The grand mufti emphasized that awarding sheikh al-Azhar is the fruit of his efforts which he has exerted since the time of his appointment. This award is considered an appreciation to his efforts in spreading the moderation of Islam and calling to forgiveness, dialogue and deterring violence. This is in addition to his scientific efforts as a researcher and a first class academic instructor specialized in Islamic philosophy, serious researches and the successful curriculum he has developed in many Arab universities.

The mufti pointed out that awarding Sheik al-Azahar Sheikh Zayed’s Cultural Personality of the Year Award is considered an emphasize that Azhar is inexhaustible. He added: Dr. Ahmad al-Tayyeb managed through his patriotic situations and his wisdom to attract others’ attention to the noble Azhar and its significant role in constructing the Muslim community and preserving its heritage and culture.
