The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawqi Allam, received on Sunday morning the ambassador of Morocco in Cairo. The ambassador congratulated Dr. Shawqi on taking helm of his new post. During the meeting they discussed the means of promoting cooperation between Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah and the Ministry of Awqaf in Morocco.

The Moroccan ambassador praised Dar al-Ifta’s experience in renewing religious discourse in Egypt, stressing the necessity of benefitting from it.

The Moroccan ambassador extended a formal invitation to the Grand Mufti to deliver one of the Hasaniyya lectures which are to be held next Ramadan before His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the king of Morocco.

Dr. Shawqi Allam said that it is a great honor to accept the king’s invitation to participate in the Hasaniyya sessions next Ramadan.

He added that al-Hasaniyya lectures that have been held in the royal palace in Rabat since the first half of sixties manifest a part of the identity of Morocco, especially since they include a great number of the community’s distinguished scholars from different countries who are known to serve the Muslim cause.

The Grand mufti of Egypt said during the meeting that Dar al-Ifta’s role is not restricted to issuing fatwas in Egypt only;  it also has an international role commended by international institutions and establishments. He briefly explained to the ambassador Dar al-Ifta’s mission and departments.
