Egypt’s Dar al-Iftaa will host an International Conference next October
Egypt’s Dar al-Iftaa will be hosting an international conference through the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide under the auspices of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, President of the Egyptian Republic and with the participation of Multi-Regional delegations from 80 countries.
The conference, which is considered a milestone in Dar al-Iftaa’s history, will be held on October 17-18, 2016 in Cairo under the title, “Scholarly Preparation, Fatwa Issuance Training for Imams in Muslim Minority Communities”. The conference will discuss a number of vital issues relating to Muslim minorities in western countries and covers the mannerism on how to prepare Imams to handle extremism and encounter the challenges facing Muslim communities.
Dr. Ahmed al-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Azhar is to deliver the conference’s inauguration speech.
In a recent news statement, Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt and president of the conference said, “we have carefully and meticulously selected the subject of the conference. This stems from our conviction, as Muslim religious leaders, that Imams and preachers in the west are the core of spreading the true and sound teachings of Islam within their communities and it is very crucial to provide them with the necessary scholarly preparations and Fatwa Issuance tools to cope with the reality of times.”
Egypt’s Dar al-Iftaa is to hold an international press conference later to announce the conference’s main subjects, the important initiatives and recommendations that will be declared.
It is worthy to mention that the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide is the first specialized Scholarly Authority compromising 21 Muftis from across the globe that will be working to promote moderate Islamic teachings. The General Secretariat was established in December 15, 2015 at Egypt’s Dar al-Iftaa premises in Cairo.
