In his speech delivered on Wednesday at the inauguration session of the 5th Assembly of Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies currently held in UAE, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawki Allam confirmed that Islam advocates peaceful coexistence and inter-religious dialogue. He added that the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) was the first leader to initiate and establish the concept of “citizenship” in the Constitution of Medina that has been the research topic of many modern studies.

“Since the beginning of the 20th century, many trials have been dedicated to twist religion in a way that destabilize the communities,” Dr. Allam said. He made it clear in his speech that differences and variety in creation is one of God’s norms that brings balance to the Universe.

The 5th Assembly of Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies is currently held in Abu Dhabi, titled “Alliance of Virtues: An Opportunity for Global Peace”, under the auspices of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, headed by His Eminence Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies.
