The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawki Allam, gave a keynote speech at the inauguration session of Abu Dhabi’s conference, held from 24-25 February, on the role of education and religious tolerance in combating extremism.
Dr. Allam stated in his speech that the principle underlying the relationship between Muslims and non- Muslims is coexistence, which is a defining feature of humanity. “A person who thoroughly explores the verses of the noble Quran and Prophetic traditions will find that, in its entirety, it presents an integrated methodology concerning the treatment of the other,” Dr. Allam said.
Dr. Allam concluded that coexistence and religious tolerance are vital components for pursuing interaction among different cultures worldwide.
