In response to a kind invitation extended by Sheikh Mahmoud al-Habbash, Supreme Judge of Palestine, Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt’s Mufti and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, participated in an online conference titled “Together with Peace against Occupation”.

Dr. Allam, in his word, confirmed that it is not strange to Egypt and the entire Azhar institution to have a firm stance defending and supporting Jerusalem against the Israeli occupation. “It is high time to recall our religious and historical right to Jerusalem as the one and only Arab capital of the Palestinian State,” Dr. Allam said.

The Grand Mufti warned the Islamic nation against the danger of falling into the trap of conspiracies which weaken the Arab community and distract it from issues so fateful to millions of people. “Defending Jerusalem against Israeli occupation is the Arab and Muslim world’s core issue; neglecting this duty is tantamount to betrayal and wasting history, religion and identity of this nation,” Dr. Allam concluded.
