Protecting youth from extremist and violent ideologies, Egypt’s Grand Mufti participates in UN conference in Geneva

Egypt’s Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide Dr. Shawki Allam, left for Geneva on Sunday to participate in the UN conference titled “Protecting the Youth from Extremist and Violent Ideologies: Implementation Measures”.

Dr. Allam will give a keynote speech that addresses Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta experience and efforts to counter extremist ideologies including projects and initiatives to protect youth from falling a prey to violence, extremism and terrorism.

 Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Mufti’s Senior Advisor and Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, will also give a speech in the conference on “The role of national identity in stabilizing societal security” .

The conference is organized by the Muslim World League at UN premises in Geneva from 18-19 February 2020 and it addresses four main themes: Thoughts, ideologies and milieux leading to extremism, national identity and its role in building intellectual security, Europe's Muslim youth in Europe and the threat of extremism, religious and cultural pluralism, and the culture of tolerance.
