Egypt’s Mufti participates in a virtual meeting on environmental education, commemorates International Day for Ifta
Within the framework of commemorating the International Day for Ifta, Egypt’s Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, virtually participated in the global Islamic forum currently held in Moscow via zoom video conference. The forum, in its 17th round, is dedicated to addressing environmental education and organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation.
The General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide dedicated this year’s theme to raising awareness on the role of fatwa in promoting sustainable development and addressing environmental issues like climate change.
“Islam exhorts Muslims to populate and develop the earth and optimally utilize the natural resources in a manner that ensures its survival and flow.” Dr. Allam said in his word. He added that sustainable development is one of the fundamental requirements for populating the earth by virtue of preserving natural resources and protecting the environment.
