Egypt's Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, participated in the 33rd International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, kicked off in Cairo on Saturday, titled “Ijtihad is the Necessity of the Time.”

The conference is organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments with the participation of the Ministers of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Muftis and heads of Islamic institutions, universities, and Islamic societies from 90 countries.

"The institutional collective form of ijtihad is a key to attain the concept of sound fatwa that reinforces the safety and stability of the societies and people", Dr. Allam said in his word.

The Grand Mufti asserted that Egypt's Dar al-Ifta is actively adopting a number of promising projects regarding the renewal of the religious discourse and correcting misconceptions.
