Completing reading the entire Quran in Ramadan
Question
Arabic is not my first language. Will I be considered sinful if I cannot complete reading the entire Quran during Ramadan? Is it allowed if I dedicate some time to it every day, even if I cannot complete reading it?
Answer
Reading the Qur’an during Ramadan is a highly recommended act of worship and a means of following the Prophetic guidance during this blessed month. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us that God Almighty says, 'My slave keeps on drawing nearer to Me with extra acts of worship (Nawafil) until I love him. When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks. If he asks of Me, I give to him; and if he seeks refuge with Me, I protect him.'
Although completing a full recitation (Khatmah) of the Quran during Ramadan is not obligatory, it is commendable to do so. During these blessed times of the year, a Muslim should strive in various acts of worship to the best of their ability, seeking guidance and assistance from God, and being content with all that He Almighty grants.
