Combing the hair while in state of iḥram

Question

What is the ruling on combing the hair while in a state of iḥram?

Answer

Individuals in a state of ihram are prohibited from combing their hair to avoid the possibility of hair falling out, particularly if they are aware that this action will lead to shedding. However, if they are unaware that this could happen, then combing is merely disliked.

An individual, regardless of gender, who combs their hair and finds a few hairs on the comb, without knowing whether these were lost during the combing process or are a result of normal shedding, is not required to pay compensation (fidya). This is because there is a possibility that the hairs were already detached to begin with; compensation is not required based on uncertainty and speculation.

And Allah the Almighty knows best
