We reviewed request no. 1622 for the year 2006 which includes the following: 

    Background

    A sum of money belonging to some minors is deposited in the bank under the authority of the probate court. 

    Question 

    Is it permissible to take the zakat due on that sum and spend it on those minors?
 

     It is impermissible because a person is not entitled to take the zakat due on his own property for himself.
