The virtue of reminding others to make remembrance of Allah and to recite the Quran

Question

An inquirer asks, ‘I occasionally remind my friends to recite the Quran and to make remembrance of Allah Almighty. Do I earn a reward for this?”

Answer

The texts of Islamic law affirm the virtue of making remembrance of Allah and reciting the Quran. These include, among others:

- “And the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so—for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward” (Quran, 33: 35).

- “O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance. And exalt Him morning and afternoon” (Quran, 33: 41–42).

- “Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend from what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, expect a trade that will never perish” (Quran, 35: 29).

- Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Recite the Quran, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor on behalf of its companions” (recorded by Muslim).

Reminding and encouraging others to make remembrance of Allah and recite the Quran by those qualified to do so is one of the righteous deeds for which a person is rewarded. Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever calls to guidance will earn a reward equal to that of those who follow him, without diminishing their rewards in the slightest” (recorded by Muslim).[1]

And Allah Almighty knows best.
