A woman wearing the hijab and facing the qibla when reciting the Quran

Question

Is it obligatory for a woman to wear the hijab and face the qibla while reciting the Quran from the mushaf (physical, written copy of the Quran)?

Answer

It is necessary to observe certain etiquettes while reciting the Quran in order to attain the greatest possible reward. These include covering the ʿawrah (the parts of the body that must be covered), maintaining ritual purity from both minor and major impurities, facing the qibla (direction of prayer), and adhering to the rules of proper recitation.

Accordingly, it is preferable for a woman to wear the hijab and face the qibla while reciting the Quran. However, there is no objection in Islamic law to a woman reciting the Quran at home without wearing the hijab or facing the qibla.

And Allah the Almighty knows best.
