Who lowers a deceased woman into her grave
Question
Should only a woman’s male mahram relatives place her in the grave?
Answer
It is preferable for a woman’s male mahram relatives (those whom a woman is permanently prohibited from marrying) to undertake the burial, with the husband having the foremost right to do so. If no such relatives are available, or if they are available they do not know how to perform the burial properly, a righteous person who is not related to the deceased may undertake the burial.
