Does phlegm invalidate fasting, keeping in mind that it is a big inconvenience? Does swallowing it invalidate prayer?

There is a well-known opinion that swallowing phlegm does not invalidate fasting, just as it does not invalidate prayer (if swallowed during prayer.)
