Egypt's Grand Mufti Delivers a Speech at Algeria's High Islamic Council Conference on Human Acquaintance

Egypt’s Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Nazir Mohammad Ayyad, delivered a speech at the High Islamic Council Conference in Algeria, held under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

In his address, Dr. Ayyad emphasized that human acquaintance (taʿāruf) is a foundational Islamic value that promotes peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. He highlighted the urgent need for a global ethical framework to regulate artificial intelligence and condemned the ongoing atrocities in Gaza as a stain on humanity’s conscience.

He concluded by urging religious institutions to play a central role in promoting a culture of peace and confronting ideologies rooted in racism and civilizational conflict, while stressing the need to support political and military leaderships that are striving to restore balance through knowledge, faith, and awareness.
