H.E Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Egypt's Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, received a delegation from the Islamic University of the Maldives, led by Professor Dr. Ali Zahir, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation. Dr. Ayyad highlighted the longstanding ties between Egypt and the Maldives, reaffirming Dar al-Ifta’s commitment to expanding collaboration in Arabic language instruction, Islamic sciences, and the training of qualified scholars capable of promoting a balanced and enlightened understanding of Islam.

He also reviewed the institution’s key initiatives and affiliated bodies in countering extremism, monitoring global fatwa trends, and fostering constructive intellectual dialogue, underscoring the vital role of partnerships between religious and academic institutions in promoting sound awareness and responsible religious discourse.

For their part, the University's delegation expressed their appreciation for Dar al-Ifta’s prominent role in serving the Muslim world, affirming their aspiration to deepen cooperation in education, training, and academic exchange in ways that advance shared goals and reinforce the values of moderation and informed understanding.
