Egypt's Dar al-Ifta warns of backlash against Muslims living in the US
Dr. Ibrahim Negm, the Senior Advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt, said in a lecture he delivered to an audience of religious leaders in New York that religious fascism is the cause of the terror wave sweeping across both Egypt and the international community. He added that religious fascism is likewise the heart of extremism that espouses violence, bloodshed, and terrorism as its methodology.
Negm explained that the latest terror attacks in Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, France, and Nigeria confirm Egypt’s previous concerns regarding the universality of terrorism.
Addressing religious leaders, Negm said, “We need to spread the spirit of cooperation at this critical time.” He added that Dar al-Ifta’ al-Misriyyah plays an active role in raising awareness through lectures, publications, and sending scholarly delegations to different countries to clarify the true teachings of Islam and to correct the stereotypical depiction of Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
