Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta: Islamic legislation is clear in prohibiting slavery

In its recent fatwa, Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah stressed that QSIS violates the pact of Allah and his Messenger by captivating women, a matter which is considered Haraba [highway robbery] and corruption on earth.

The fatwa added that QSIS captivating non-Muslims women has antagonized the Prophet [peace and blessing be upon him] on the day of Judgment. Furthermore, Islam does not command slavery and there is no Qur`anic evidence on enslaving captives. And freedom is the principal as Islam commands kind treatment to salves and recommended freeing them.

Moreover, since its emergence, Islamic legislation is clear in prohibiting slavery in the society. International agreements which incriminate slavery are binding upon Muslims and for this reason all the rulings related to slavery and those in right hand possession in Islamic Fiqh have been suspended because of its irrelevancy. Islamic countries joining the agreements incriminating slavery, enslavement has been prohibited and has become a crime forbidden in the prudent Islamic law.

At the end, the fatwa emphasized that Islam has always warned against the crimes of QSIS and being deceived by their false claims through which they distort the religion.
