During his meeting with Anthony Bubalo, Director at the Lowy Institute for International Policy in Sidney, Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Senior Advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt, said that the challenges we presently face on all levels, both domestically and abroad, necessitate global communication, full awareness of current circumstances and possessing the mindset that contributes to forming the future.

Dr. Negm, currently on an official visit to Australia, confirmed that terrorism is by no means a product of Islam but is the violent inclination of individuals and groups and distorted notions all of which have contributed to tarnishing the image of Islam and to the defamation of all faiths. “Think-tanks have become an indispensable necessity to every community that seeks progress. No country could achieve progress except if they pay more attention to scientific and scholarly research,” Dr. Negm stated.

On his part, Dr. Anthony Bubalo, praised the role of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta in combating radical ideologies. He said that Dar al-Ifta’s Fatwa Monitoring Observatory has become one of the most important tools to combat takfiri and extremist fatwas worldwide over the past two years. He also expressed his desire to cooperate with Dar al-Ifta’s observatory to combat radical ideologies.
