Egypt needs to embark on a national project to correct the inaccurate image of Egypt abroad
After returning from the USA, Dr. Ibrahim Negm, advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt, stated that Egypt must launch a national project to correct the inaccurate image of Egypt and improve its reputation globally. He added the necessity of explaining the circumstances associated with both the political and religious mobility to American leaders and media.“Egypt’s reputation is still being deliberately defamed by the media, academics and Muslim communities“ he said.
Dr. Negm further said that there is a serious shortage of correct information about Egypt among the American political and media circles. He said that Americans and immigrants believe that Egypt is still mired in chaos and violence and this obligates us to play a greater role in organizing an international public relations campaign to correct this image. It also requires us to benefit from the respect and love millions of Muslims have for both the Azhar and Dar al-Iftaa. He explained that Azhari institutions represent the trustworthy guardians of the Prophetic legacy and Islamic knowledge, a matter which imposes increasing responsibilities on the Egyptian religious institutions to build bridges of cooperation with the Muslim communities around the world.
