Dr. Shawky Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, sent a number of scholars from Dar al-Iftaa to oversee the slaughter of meat animals that Egypt imports and to ensure the application of Islamic legal provisions.

Dr. Ali Umar, Director of the Department of Islamic legal Calculations and Fatwa Trustee at Dar al-Iftaa, said after returning from Brazil that the delegation visited a number of major abattoirs in Sao Bernardo and Sao Francisco to oversee the slaughtering process of chicken and cows. He added that this step reflects the growing confidence in Dar al-Iftaa inside and outside Egypt and its distinguished role in meeting the needs of Muslim communities in such countries.

It is worthy to mention that Dar al-Iftaa plans to send a number of its scholars on a regular basis to various countries to oversee the slaughter of animals which are consumed by Muslims there or exported to Egypt.
