Dar al- Iftaa strongly denounces the shooting spree led by a mentally disturbed extremist which left a Canadian soldier killed. The shooter, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, had a long career of criminal activities and allegedly was a recent convert to Islam with extremist opinions. His criminal background coupled with his unstable mentality along with his extremist tendencies made him an easy target to fall prey to engaging in terrorist activities.

Killing innocent people is severely incriminated and utterly abhorred in Islam to the extent that God tantamounts the killing of one innocent person to the killing of all humanity. These brutal terrorist activities could only come from cruel hearts, warped logic, sick minds, half educated people who lost all the meanings of mercy and compassion.

“The rising wave of extremism needs the unity of all religions and people of sensibility to counteract such plague of hatred and inhumanity which our modern world suffers from” said Dr. Ibrahim Negm, the Senior Advisor to the Grand Mufti.
