Dar al-Ifta denounces Liberty University President’s call for an armed campus

Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta strongly condemned Liberty University President, Jerry Falwell’s hate speech against Islam and Muslims. Falwell was speaking to around ten thousand students at the school’s convocation during which he incited students to carry arms on campus to “end those Muslims before they walked in.”

Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta warned in a statement against spreading anti-Muslim sentiments because they create tensions and hatred, undermine societal peace, and spread extremism and terrorism.

The statement added that implementing laws punishing spreading hatred and discrimination on the basis of religion, color, and race is the only way to counter such calls.

Dar al-Ifta also called upon Muslims living in the west to integrate positively into their communities in order to contribute to their development and to embody Islamic morals encouraging construction, thus thwarting hatred and Islamophobia.
