Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, received a high-level religious delegation from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Endowments headed by H.E Faydh Mohammed Othmani, Minister of Hajj, Guidance and Endowments in Afghanistan, to discuss means of enhancing mutual religious cooperation.

Dr. Allam mentioned the role of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide that was established in 2015 to serve Islam and Muslims worldwide, stressing that it has 40 country-members and it regularly holds an annual international conference to discuss and treat Fatwa issues.

From his part, the Afghani Minister praised Dar al-Ifta’s efforts and confirmed that his government is willing to establish a central Fatwa House in Afghanistan to encounter extremist ideologies and aberrant fatwas, confirming his country’s desire to exchange expertise with Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta to provide them with the necessary scholarly guidance.
