The Grand Mufti of Egypt, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Shawki Allam vehemently condemned the heinous suicide bombing occurred near Al-Azhar mosque in Cairo when an explosive device carried by a militant, the police officers were pursuing, detonated causing many casualties.

In a news statement issued on Monday, Dr. Allam confirmed that extremist groups aim to destabilize the society and stir up anger; however, their attempts will be in vain.

The Mufti extended his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and implored God to protect Egypt and Egyptians from all evils.
