Egypt's Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, received today in his office Sheikh Gamal Fouda, Imam of New Zealand's Al-Noor mosque, stricken by terrorist attacks in last March.

Dr. Allam stressed during the meeting that Muslims in New Zealand and in other non-Muslim countries are no longer isolated from their communities. Rather, they are part of the social fabric of these communities who contribute to building their societies and enriching inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue.

From his part, Sheikh Fouda expressed his deep thanking to the Grand Mufti and Egypt's Dar al-Ifta for providing Muslims in his community with necessary scholarly support, confirming that Christchurch's incident, though heinous, attracted the world's attention to Muslims in New Zealand.
