In a press statement issued on Friday, Egypt's Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, vehemently denounced the heinous bloody shootings at two mosques in New Zealand's Christchurch city, during Friday prayer, killing 49 worshippers and leaving scores injured.

"This terrorist attack contravenes the teachings of all heavenly-revealed religions that prohibit killing secure people, let alone attacking houses of worship," Dr. Allam stated.

The Grand Mufti called for conducting extensive investigations to clearly announce the reasons and motives behind this type of heinous terrorist attacks targeting houses of worship and stirring turmoil in western communities.

Dr. Allam expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, implored God to shower them with His infinite mercy and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
