Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, received H.E. Mr. Jan Thesleff, Swedish Ambassador to Cairo, and H.E. Mr. Joachim Bergström – Ambassador to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Special Envoy to Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in Sweden, to discuss the means of promoting mutual religious cooperation.

During the meeting, Dr. Allam confirmed that Islam is comprehensive system that advocates knowing the other and cooperation in what comes in the best interest of humanity. “Terrorism cannot be born out of any religion or homeland and the recent bloody crime at two mosques in New Zealand attests to this fact,” Dr. Allam said.

From their part, the delegation praised Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta efforts in combating extremism and terrorism and promoting the values of love, tolerance and coexistence among people.
