Egypt’s Dar al- Iftaa vehemently condemned the bloodthirsty QSIS burning alive the captive Jordanian pilot, Muadh al-Kaseasbeh, in a horrific video which exceeded all limits of brutality to set a new level of savagery and barbarism which cannot be justified under any sacred text, human logic or sound heart.

In a statement, Dar al-Iftaa stressed, those terrorists have ignored the entire Islamic teachings and their objectives which call towards mercy and preserving the soul. They further contradicted the proper human nature and resorted to some erroneous interpretations and sayings in order to justify their heinous crime.

Dar al-Iftaa has refuted the pretexts which those extremists have provided in justification of their crime. It further elucidated, that the claim that the honorable companion Abu Bakr al-Siddiq had burned alive “al-Faja` al-Silmi” is false because the narration of burning al-Faja` is fabricated and transmitted by `Ulwan Ibn Dawud al-Bajly whose narrations are weak and fabricated.

The hadith scholar Ibn Hajar said in Lisan al-Mizan: “al-Bukhari said: the chain of ‘Ulwan Ibn Dawud who is also called Ibn Salih is weak and fabricated. Moreover, the hadith scholar Nur al-Din al-Haythami commented in Mujma` al-Zawaid on this narration and said: “Narrated by al-Tabarani in a chain includes ‘Ulwan Ibn Dawud al-Bajili whose narration is weak and fabricated. Al-`Uqaili narrated in al-Da`faa al-Kabir through Yahia Ibn `Uthman that he heard Sa’id Ibn `Ufair saying: ‘Ulwan Ibn Dawud was Zaquly from among al-Zawaqil who are thieves.

Furthermore, Dar al-Iftaa has mentioned in its refutation to this allegation that accusing the companion Khalid Ibn al-Walid of burning the head of Kahlid Ibn Nuwaira is a fabricated narration and its chain of transmission includes Mohammed Ibn Hamid al-Razi who is a liar and was described by the scholar Ibn Habban: “He used to transmit fabricated narrations contrary to the trustworthy narrators of hadith.” Moreover, both Abu Zar`ah and Mohammed Ibn Muslim said: It was proved for us that he was a liar.”

Egypt's Dar al-Ifta emphasized that it is prohibited in Islam to mutilate captives and execute burning alive penalties. Rather, Islam established the necessity to treat captives kindly and made it from among the Islamic moral disciplines and Qur'anic etiquettes as per the words of God, "And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of God . We wish not from you reward or gratitude." Kind treatment includes giving out food, drink, garments, medications and talking good gentle speech.

It is mentioned that the Prophet (peace be upon him) has treated the captives of Badr kindly. The Prophet prohibited torturing the captives by amputating organs, burning limbs and the like. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) requested the Prophet's permission to remove the front teeth of Suhail ibn Amr [he was taken a prisoner after the battle of Badr], so his tongue will hang down. Thereupon, the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said, "Do not do this, O 'Umar! I will not mutilate him and bring upon myself the punishment of God mutilating me in return, even though I am a Prophet."

Ya'la ibn Murrah narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "God the Almighty said, 'Do not mutilate My servants'." [Recorded by Imam Ahmed in his Musnad]
In another Prophetic tradition, the Prophet said, "Whoever mutilates a living creature and does not repent, God will mutilate him on the Day of Judgment." He also said, "Only God is entitled to torture with fire." [Recorded by Bukhari]

Egypt's Dar al-Iftaa pointed out that the prophetic tradition on prohibiting burning alive is authentic and recorded by Imam Bukhari in his Sahih collection of hadiths. In this respect, Scholars mention a number of Prophetic traditions recorded in Bukhari's Sahih, which is considered the most authentic book of Sunnah, including the words of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him), "Do not torture by fire, for verily, only the Lord of fire is entitled to torture with fire."

Egypt's Dar al-Iftaa concluded, "If we to assume that a person deserved the death punishment; in this case, Islam commands us to observe the Islamic mannerism in executing the penalty. This means that only the ruler is entitled to execute the death punishment by using the less painful and swiftest means to terminating the offender's life, even if he was a warrior. The prophet's words are clearly stated to observe kindness when killing animals, let alone human beings?!"

The horrendous acts of barbarism by this heinous terrorist group prove their sickening mentality, cruel hearts and warped logic and the world should unite to fight their corruption on earth. It is a moral, religious and humanitarian obligation from all nations.
