In his keynote speech delivered in the international conference on countering hate speech, Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, expressed his great pleasure for participating in this event that brings together leaders, institutions, and individuals who may cooperate in confronting hate and in promoting peaceful coexistence and shared citizenship.

Dr. Allam confirmed that this kind of events are important to combat loathsome animosity and promote the values of peace, love, and cooperation, which are common to all faiths and religions.

“We are certainly in critical need for embodying these values and converting them into a tangible reality, particularly with the exacerbation of the threat of an evil power bent on fomenting hatred, fanaticism, schism, sectarianism, extremism, terrorism and intent on violating human dignity,” Dr. Allam stated.

The conference titled, “The Power of Words: Countering Hate Speech” is currently held in Austria, from 30-31 October, under the kind auspices of the King Abdullah ibn Abdul Aziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID).
