Charity Is More Urgent: Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta launches new online campaign to support coronavirus-affected people

April 13, 2020

Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta launched new online campaign titled “charity is more urgent” in response to the Saudi authorities’ resolution to suspend performing ‘umrah this year over coronavirus safety procedures in the kingdom.

Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt’s Grand Mufti, said that those who planned to go for ‘umrah this year have to pay its expenses in charity instead to daily-paid workers and everyone who lost their sources of income over coronavirus outbreak.

Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta mentioned, in a recently published motion graphic video announcing this campaign, the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said, “The most beloved people to God are those who benefit others the most. And the most beloved deed in God’s sight is to make a Muslim happy, remove their hardship, forgive them their debt, or to feed the hungry.”
