Egypt's Mufti welcomes a high-level Malaysian delegation, presents efforts to foster mutual religious and scholarly cooperation
Egypt's Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Shawki Allam, welcomed a high-level Malaysian delegation led by Dato' Seri/Haji Wan Zahidi bin Wan Teh, the Mufti of Perak State in Malaysia, on Tuesday. The purpose of their meeting was to discuss avenues for enhancing mutual scholarly and religious cooperation.
Dr. Allam elaborated on several mechanisms employed by Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta to bolster religious education and fatwa training. He emphasized the establishment of numerous departments aimed at providing fatwas to the public and ensuring alignment with contemporary global developments. This notably includes the launch of the "Fatwa Pro" application under the umbrella of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, designed to cater to Muslim communities in the West in both English and French languages.
In response, the Malaysian delegation lauded the role and efforts of Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta in combating extremism and terrorism regionally and internationally. They commended the distinguished scholarly methodology employed in issuing fatwas and expressed their keenness for future mutual cooperation.
