Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta hosts first Int'l exhibition on Russian-Egyptian Spiritual Relations

Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt's Grand Mufti and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, inaugurated on Thursday afternoon the first international exhibition hosted by Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta in collaboration with the Russian Federation, titled: "Russia - Egypt: Spiritual Relations Through the Ages". The event was attended by a high-level delegation included Dr. Roshan Abbasov, Mufti of Moscow Region and Deputy Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Georgy Borisenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Egypt, Ilkhan Polukhov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Cairo, Kairat Lama Sharif, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Cairo, Mansur Bek Kiliychev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Cairo, and a diplomatic team from the Tajikistan Embassy.

The Grand Mufti, accompanied by the attending ambassadors, had a tour in the exhibition where they viewed the history of bilateral historical, cultural and religious Russian-Egyptian relations. The exhibition witnessed extensive media coverage by Egyptian and Russian journalists.

In his speech, the Grand Mufti pointed out that holding the exhibition at Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta contributes to deepening mutual understanding and enhancing strong bilateral relations between the two countries, reinforcing the cooperation advocated by the Almighty in the Quranic verse: "O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another". The Grand Mufti stressed that communication among peoples is necessary and legitimate, even if they differ in religions and races; they have no choice but to agree on ethical principles.

From his part, Dr. Roshan Abbasov thanked the Grand Mufti for hosting this important exhibition and conveyed greetings from Sheikh Rawi Ain al-Din, the Mufti of the Russian Federation and Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation. He described this hosting as a great honor for them.

"We are working to present a correct image of Islam in our country, and there will be visits to Arab countries to introduce the history of Islam in Russia. We have already started with an exhibition at Dar Al-Ifta in Egypt," Abbassov concluded.
