Reciting the chapter of ‘Al- Mulk’, does it protect from the torment of the grave?

Question

Reciting the chapter of ‘Al- Mulk’, does it protect from the torment of the grave?

Answer

The hadith narrated about the reward for reciting surat Al-Mulk was authenticated by some hadith scholars. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated the following, “Verily, there is a chapter in the Qur`an which contains thirty verses that will intercede on behalf of its reciter until he is forgiven. It is ‘Blessed is He in Whose hand is [all] sovereignty’ ” (recorded by Al-Tirmidhi (2891) as a sound hadith and authenticated by Ibn Al-Molakin in the book Al-Badir Al-Moneer(3/561)].”
Ibn Hajar wrote in Altalkhiss Alhabeer (1/382), “This hadith has another sound narration. Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud said, “Whoever recites surat Al-Mulk every night will be protected by God from the torment of the grave. At the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) we used to call it ‘Al-Mane`ah’ [that which protects], and the one who recites it every night is duly rewarded”[Al-Nasa`i (6/179)]. Therefore, whoever recites this chapter in honor of God, expecting recompense from none but Him, earns this reward.
