Dar al-Ifta’s representative delivers a lecture at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in New York
Dr. Ibrahim Negm, the Advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt ,In a lecture he delivered yesterday at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in New York, , stressed that confronting deviant ideologies requires waging an intellectual war in which religious scholars must cooperate with international media and academic circles in the field of research and publishing in order to refute such ideologies and expose erroneous notions.
Dr. Negm emphasized that Egypt has taken great steps to impede infedilizing ideologies and that it revolted against the terrorism threatening its stability just as it revolted against corruption. He added that terrorism is a global phenomenon and no society is totally immune to its crimes and that Egypt has repeatedly warned of this plague but to no avail.
He said that Dar al-Iftaa al-Misriyyah is considered an active partner in all international events .
Dr. Negm confirmed that Islam rejects all forms of extremism and terrorism, adding the necessity of understanding the motives driving the youth to walk this path.
He also criticized the silence of the international community in the face of the repeated violations against al-Aqsa Mosque, which he said fuels terrorism and extremism.
At the end, Dr. Negm called upon the American citizens to increase inter-religious and inter-culture dialogue and to promote the principles of peace, freedom, equality and brotherhood
